Last Saturday we did our first ever pet portrait promotion at Terri’s new pet boutique in Enumclaw! What a blast! I look forward to doing more of them in the future. This was one of my favorite shots from the day; I call it “Band of Brothers!” All 4 of these dogs are brothers and the owners wanted me to capture their fun personalities. Just like with photographing people, it’s all about capturing the exact moment a subject bares their inner soul. It’s actually a little easier with pets, lol!
Since our initial “Pet” Folio Model Search back in March (highlights are on Facebook and our Pet Portraits by Hudson’s Blog Page), we’ve photographed almost every kind of dog and cat you can think of. But, the most dogs I have photographed at one time is 2, so this was a new challenge in itself. It went so well Josh and I are thinking of coming up with a Doggy Play Date Session here at the studio!
Basically, bring in your dog and a few of your dog’s friends (and owners too) and we’ll photograph all of them together, separately, and then everyone splits the session fee! I heard on the news last night that it’s been over 270 days since the temperature has gone above 75 degrees in Seattle. We’ve had a lot of clients express interest in having their family photographed this summer, but want to wait until the weather gets nicer. That’s right; all studio or on-location session fees will be just $75 until tomorrow (June 24th) at 4:00pm. Just call us, pay the $75 session fee, and when you’re ready to have the session this summer or fall it won’t cost you $150-$250! Sweet deal! But after June 24th at 4:00pm, they will go back to our normal rate.

Have I told you yet that I’m having a BLAST photographing pets??? What a kick! I actually had a lifelong show dog breeder ask me today, “You are the best pet photographer I have ever seen, how long have you been doing it?” Well, about 2 weeks! LOL! I can’t remember what kind of dogs these are, but Bentley on the left is the dad and Sammy on the right is the daughter, a true family portrait! There owners are client on mine, in fact, Carol, the owner of Bentley, was the first to call in about our Pet Portrait Model Search. She saw her images today and was just thrilled! The image is one I created of her dog and her mother-in-law’s dog, who just happens to be Bentley’s daughter. What a fun session!

We are having so much photographing our 4 legged friends here at Hudson's! I even photographed my first lizard portrait in 27 years of being in business! Literally within 24 hours of announcing that we are now doing high end pet portraits we booked 2 dozen sessions! We were going to cap it at 12 models, but decided to let it ride!
Josh contacted the Humane Society and let them know what we are doing and decided to partner up! In addition to the free session and 8x10, most of our clients wanted more images, so we developed several packages that include a small wall portrait (including our cool new square wrapped canvas) and some smaller sizes at some discounted prices. A portion of the proceeds from this will go back to the Humane Society! Talk about a win win!
