Here’s some food for thought…I love photographing food! When I got into this business 28 years ago I never saw myself as a commercial photographer, let along one who creates food images. But over the past 6-7 years my clients have been begging me to create the same level of photography for their businesses as I do for their family portraits, wedding photography, and children portraits. But I have to tell you, I really enjoy helping businesses showcase their products and services in a meaningful and impactful way.
For those of us in business for ourselves, the last few years have been challenging to say the least. We’re all looking for the edge; it’s cool to think that my photography (and video productions) is making a difference in their marketing. And best of all, after the photo shoot is over, I get to eat the food! My son Josh put together a “Day in the Life” video last Saturday during one of our other food photography photo sessions; check out that video on our Youtube Channel.
The video embedded on this blog is from Armondo’s Café Italiano in Renton, WA. I photographed their new chef, some of his new dishes, and some new signature drinks. If you haven’t been to Armondo’s lately, oh boy, are you in for a treat! The new food is amazing! Their new chef Tom Small brings a fresh, local, and creative way to cooking to Armondo’s that is already becoming the talk of the town in Renton. Stop in a try some of the new dishes for yourself!
I just love this photograph of my grand daughter Natalie playing soccer a few months ago! This is actually something we offer to all of our clients, esspecially when we are designing a KGrad album or a high school senior portrait album. Childrens portraits are all about capturing the personality of the little one, stopping time for that moment. In order to do this I need to get out from the studio and photograph them in their element. For Natalie, it's on the soccer field! Josh actually coached the team this year, he did a great job!
Just thought I would share this fun image with you!
Bruce Hudson- Professional Photographer and "Grandpa Bruce"
PS. More information coming soon in regards to us being able to conduct family portraits inside the Quest Field Pitch for a Seattle Sounders FC themed family portrait!
2 of our favorite kinds of family pictures here at Hudson's are Family Beach Portraits in places like Cannon Beach, OR and on the Washington coast, and creating beautiful family portraits on the lakes our client's live on! We've actually become very well known for this around Western Washington as being the professional photographer who can create these one of kind peices of art on the water. Bruce has clients on most of the major lakes in Washington like Lake Sammamish, Lake Meridian, Lake Tapps, Lake Washington, and we even travel to Lake Chelan once a year! The image above is from a session on Lake Sawyer a few nights ago!
The Siplia Family goes way back with Bruce, Nani, the mom was a student of his when he taught band at Tahoma High School in the early 80's! And, she was also my (Josh) kindergarten teacher at Lake Wilderness Elementary School in Maple Valley! The mountain was out the colors just poped! Thanks Siplia family for a great session, see you on the lake this summer!
Over the years YOU our clients have expressed to us that you would love to have the option of spreading out your portrait investments over time. Well, those requests have not come of deaf ears! All we needed was to find a company that we felt represents the level of trust, quality, and flexibility that you have come to know us for. This morning we had a great meeting with a company that fits all of those needs!
So, if you have been holding off updating that family portrait, some new children’s photography of the kiddos, or you’re dreading the investment of professional wedding coverage, we have an option for you! Hudson’s now offers financing! To learn more please give us a call or we would love to discuss it with you during your pre-portrait consultation!
One of my fellow Rotarians and “wine buddies” Russ Price just turned 85! 5 years ago I was asked to photograph some family portraits at his home in Renton, WA while his children were in town to celebrate his 80th birthday. Well, 5 years later I was once again tasked with capturing another milestone event in his life. This time, we hit 4 generations with the portrait!
All of us have events in our lives that bring our families together. Whether it’s a family reunion, a wedding, grad party, the holidays, or an 85th birthday party, they are all the perfect times to update those family portraits!
Thanks again for letting me be part of your family and your special event Russ, you da man!
LOL! Bruce is going to be a grandpa again; Josh’s wife Melissa is pregnant with the newest little Hudson! What an exciting time here are Hudson’s! Every month we are tasked with photographing numerous First Year Baby Plans here at the studio. This is where we photograph mom pregnant, the baby when it’s a few days old, and then a portrait session every month for the first year. It’s amazing to see how much these little ones change in just one year. I should know, I process all the images! We then put together a custom album that showcases the baby’s first year. Well, it’s about to come full circle!
You see, Josh was the official First Year Baby Plan client here at Hudson’s! Bruce and Sue had only been in business for about 3 months before Josh was born. Then, having a new little baby around the studio, led to Josh being photographed every week! Now, his newest addition is sure to get plenty of attention from Grandpa Bruce behind the camera!
Last Saturday we did our first ever pet portrait promotion at Terri’s new pet boutique in Enumclaw! What a blast! I look forward to doing more of them in the future. This was one of my favorite shots from the day; I call it “Band of Brothers!” All 4 of these dogs are brothers and the owners wanted me to capture their fun personalities. Just like with photographing people, it’s all about capturing the exact moment a subject bares their inner soul. It’s actually a little easier with pets, lol!
Since our initial “Pet” Folio Model Search back in March (highlights are on Facebook and our Pet Portraits by Hudson’s Blog Page), we’ve photographed almost every kind of dog and cat you can think of. But, the most dogs I have photographed at one time is 2, so this was a new challenge in itself. It went so well Josh and I are thinking of coming up with a Doggy Play Date Session here at the studio!
Basically, bring in your dog and a few of your dog’s friends (and owners too) and we’ll photograph all of them together, separately, and then everyone splits the session fee! Plus, we’ll give everyone a discount on purchasing a group photo! If you’re interested, click on the Pet Portraits by Hudson’s page on this blog. Or call the studio to schedule your complimentary Pet Portrait Consultation!
